The Air Jordan 4 Retro SE Black Canvas comes in a neutral colorway with contrasting crimson accents.

This Black Canvas Air Jordan is a mid-top sneaker featuring a black canvas upper complemented by gray suede covering the eyelets and forefoot overlays. A gray Jumpman logo adorns the heel and woven tongue label, the latter featuring a crimson Flight logo. The sneaker also features a two-tone polyurethane midsole with visible Air-Sole cushioning in the heel.

The Air Jordan 4 “Canvas,” which launched earlier this year in WMNS Exclusive sizes, generated excitement even among the brand’s male target audience. And while a large portion of that audience missed out on this colorway, they can at least enjoy the upcoming sequel: the “Black Canvas.”

The “Black Canvas,” which has been largely teased for the past few months, has finally surfaced in official images. Although it’s constructed from canvas like its predecessor, the colorway features several tweaks that set it apart. The Jumpman on the tongue and heel is no longer embroidered, replaced by a standard patch and emblem; the support wings are predominantly TPU; and the forefoot features suede panels around the toe box. Additionally, the sole unit lacks the canvas trim and multicolored bottom, opting for a typical black, white, and grey arrangement.

Jokingly dubbed the “Eminem 4s at Home” due to its resemblance to the 2015 collaboration between Detroit hip-hop legend Carhartt and Jordan Brand, this upcoming Air Jordan 4 Retro is no joke. This upcoming August release is easily one of the best colorways of the AJ4 we’ve seen in recent memory. It incorporates all the classic elements you’d want in a Jordan 4 Retro—even if it doesn’t feature the Nike Air on the heel.

Dressed in black canvas, this Jordan 4 version is accented by a perfect shade of gray on the eyelets, midsole, and logos, while a touch of red on the Flight lettering and outsole traction adds a much-needed pop of color. They pair perfectly with any type of pants or shorts, and it’s this versatility in styling that will ensure they fly off the shelves when they finally release this fall.
