Nike and Jordan Brand are returning to the Spider-Verse with the release of the Air Jordan 1 High OG Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse, their second Spider-Man-themed Air Jordan 1.

The Jordan 1 High OG Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse, also known as the “Next Chapter,” is the next iteration of the original Air Jordan 1 Chicago colorway. The limited-edition sneakers feature a variety of leather, suede, and other premium materials for the upper. The patterns used on the sneakers are designed to mimic the animation style of Miles Morales/Spider-Man.

The talk surrounding the animated return of Miles Morales in “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” has reached fever pitch, as the trailer for the sequel is set to drop on December 13. After sporting the iconic Air Jordan 1 “Chicago” in the first film, the Beaverton-based brand took it upon itself to offer a nearly identical offering following the film’s release. Now, a first look at the sequel to the Spider-Man-inspired Air Jordan 1 has been revealed, confirmed by trusted source @Mr_Unloved1s on Twitter.

Extending the tried-and-true “Chicago” color-block design seen on screen, the vibrant red mudguard and crisp white vamp—along with the tonal sole unit—remain the only untouched aspects of the silhouette. A shadowy, red-and-black marbled aesthetic, directly inspired by the titular hues and geometric shapes that surround him on his travels across the multiverse, claims the introductory quarter overlay, while the midfoot features a dotted arrangement. Contrasting with the vibrant, jet-black patent leather of the upper collar, the presiding panel remains anchored by a collection of teal, yellow, and faded red spheres, mimicking the aforementioned Spider-Verse portal. The tumbled leather of the white midfoot and the contrasting black Swoosh divide the heel panel into a solid and a marbled red outfit, bringing the silhouette back to its original universe.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is likely to be one of the biggest movies of the summer, finally hitting theaters in early June. And in anticipation of the premiere, Jordan Brand is teaming up with Marvel once again to create an Air Jordan 1 directly inspired by Miles Morales’ journey into the multiverse.

The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse x Air Jordan 1 evolves the design of its predecessor—which was essentially a Kirby Dot-covered rendition of the “Chicago” colorway—and appears to draw inspiration from the multiverse itself. The shoe appears as if it has been thrust through a rift in space and time, shattering into nearly every part of its construction. While there’s a certain semblance of familiarity, this is quickly thrown out the window as the paneling transitions from leather to suede and back again, albeit worn and treated with a patina-like finish. Additionally, the Swoosh features a subtly iridescent finish, while the eyelets and ankle tabs create a graphic look that seems ripped straight from the pages of a comic book.
