Air Jordan 4 Fire Red (2020)

Jordan Brand has reissued an iconic colorway with the Air Jordan 4 Fire Red (2020), now available at Anthony Kicks. This release returns in its original form with “Nike Air”-branded heels, marking the first time this colorway has been retro since its debut in 1989.

This Jordan 4 features a white leather upper with black and fire red details. Rubber mesh underlays, black heel tabs with “Nike Air” branding, and black with fire red midsoles complete this design. These sneakers were released in November 2020.

This Black Friday 2020, also known as November 27, 2020, sees the release of the Air Jordan 4 Fire Red reps, one of the four original colorways of the shoe that hit shelves in 1989. Of the four original colorways, “Fire Red” captures the true spirit of the Chicago Bulls with a simple white/black/red colorway. Since its debut over three decades ago, this colorway has only appeared twice more, neither of which featured the one detail that separates OGs from retros. That would be the “Nike Air” tag on the heel, and while this first look doesn’t quite give away the back, we can confirm that Jordan Brand will indeed ship this Jordan 4 with that detail.

With the release of the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” in true original form, only the Jordan 4 Military Blue remains as the only AJ4 that has never been reissued in its true form.

Scheduled for release on Black Friday 2020 (or November 27, 2020), the Air Jordan 4 Fire Red features the original “Nike Air” branding on the heel for the first time since its original debut in 1989. Known for its more streamlined and appropriate white/black/red colorway, the Fire Red Jordan 4s were once a coveted grail until Jordan Brand satisfied fans with the infamous “Mars” edition in 2006. The colorway differed from the original by including the Jumpman logo on the heel, the Mars Blackmon logo on the heel tab, and the infamous paint cracking issue on the midsole. It wasn’t until 2012 that the shoes reappeared on store shelves, albeit without the Spike Lee figurine from the original advertisement.

This is the first true retro release of the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red.” While we lack a first look at the shoes, release information published by reputable sources suggests that the red-on-black Nike Air heel plate will return upon release in 2020. These occurrences are becoming less frequent by the month, as most of the original Air Jordan catalog has been covered, but the true reissue of the Jordan 4 “Military Blue” is still ahead of us.
