The Air Jordan 4 Infrared features a tonal gray Durabuck upper with black TPU mesh panels, technical straps, and heel tabs. Infrared elements on the lacing system and the woven Jordan Flight label on the tongue provide a sharp contrast to the neutral base. From there, a white sole with visible Air units completes the design.

Let’s face it: 2021 was relatively lackluster in terms of sneakers. While we saw notable offerings from A Ma Maneiere and Salehe Bembury, they were few and far between, overshadowed by a larger number of mediocre GRs. 2022, however, looks set to be a return to form, as Jordan Brand alone has more than its fair share of releases to look forward to. The Air Jordan 4 Retro Infrared is just one of many and is currently slated for release in May of this year.
Official images only fuel the fire, further teasing the colorway shortly after a considerable delay. But at least this gives us a closer look at the design of the pair, which some have compared to 2013’s “Green Glow.” And that’s a pretty apt comparison, as the “Infrared” mimics everything but the older shoe’s green accents. Replacing it is the vibrant titular red, which sits atop a base of dark and light gray nubuck. And aside from the tongue tag, the black detailing on the mesh, support wings, lace unit, and heel only adds to the similarities.
Teased and delayed ad nauseam for most of last year, the Air Jordan 4 “Infrared” finally releases for the whole family tomorrow, June 15th.
Far from being an original colorway from Tinker Hatfield’s second design for the Air Jordan line, the upcoming retro look follows a similar color-blocking scheme to the ever-popular “Green Glow” offering from August 2013. Shades of “Dark Grey” and “Cement Grey” take over the majority of the pair’s upper and sole unit, with the titular “Infrared 23” hue animating the eyestays, branding, and inner lining, as well as the treads underfoot. Overall, the aforementioned components help further expand the Jordan 4’s already extensive catalog, especially when it comes to offerings in elementary school, preschool, and toddler sizes.
